A story about three fish:”There are these two young fish swimming along and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way,who nods at them and says”Morning, boys. How’s the water?’And the two young fish swim on for a bit,and then eventually one of them looks over the other and goes,’What the hell is water?”

You might want to read this one again and go…Not sure I understand, what this meant to be an anecdote? I did. I have read this couple of times while at the same time this connected me to our sense of humour back home. What we happen to call” dry jokes” and would not normally be received with a great smile(or grin?) and an engaging” You make us laugh so much, hahahah “ …..

I am happy I triggered some interest now from you and we are all smiling.

The story within the story and within so many other stories that hopefully we will unfold here together is coming from a recent book. A book that not only made be come back eagerly to each page and the new chapters but also a book that pushed me to read it by the beach on a luckily drier and sunnier weekend. The photo is pretty much out of my reading “nook” under the only tree offering some idea of shadow and filtering the most natural and mesmerising light through its leaves and branches.

a tree with leaves and branches on a sunny day

This has been a magic day not only because I have immersed in nature, out side of any plan, no schedule ahead, just there by the water, in the sand, having dipped my feet in cold water, letting the waves enchant me with their beats and flux. The flux and rhythm was faster at times ,or suddenly just holding in stillness and barely being able to notice any fine wavy moments on the surface of the water and letting birds chirp or letting the sounds of kids on the kayaks becoming louder. I would not have any knowledge on how a symphony is created, yet I know I could call that a true mystery of life -completely taken over by this restorative symphony ,restorative for my body and soul that day. I have been looking to fill up my own resources for some time as I have to be honest - still a big work in progress when it comes to listing to my own body and making sure I take action the moment I fill I go down a bit down the slope of energy. There is a limitation(we do not like much that word, isn’t it) present :I tend to easily ignore and say - oh few more days, push a bit more. An effect that takes a toll on my writing here- because when I show up,I would love to show up in slow motion. To take my time to share beautiful findings from my journey with you.To connect deeper with the moment - whatever happens here in this raw couple hours when I write - means that I would need some good restored whole body- to be here with my full heart. For that I thank you for your immense patience and truly send my apologies for skipping a week.

I have read many years back one of Ashley Judd’s books that when she would be feeling overwhelmed or in need to restore herself she would find a creek in her walks in nature and immerse herself fully and find back life and sense the gratitude of all of it. I love her work and courage and the stands she is taking for decades in the fields of activism for protecting kids and women from the atrocities that poverty unfortunately brings along in many countries. You can find her memoir here.

All that bitter and sweet, Ashley Judd

I would also accompany the readings by the latest album from Kacey Musgraves -titled “Deeper Well”.. it all seems happening in the same week I was reading the book I meant to introduce you in the first place called: “Blue Mind, How water makes you happier, more connected and better at what you do.”

The introduction tagline from the Washington Post also mentions’A fascinating study of the emotional, behavioural, psychological and physical connections that keep humans so enchanted with water’

Blue Mind, Wallace J. Nichols

The introduction I have chosen for you was a paragraph from the preface of the same book quoting the late authour David Foster Wallace & one of his commencement speech at Kenyon College.

I am taking this further and continue with the introduction key paragraphs that for me sealed my entire strong connection with the very book and further research with the mystery and power of waters.

“What the hell is water?”

That is the fundamental question that started my own journey. What is water? Why are we humans so enthralled by it?And why is this question so obvious and important, yet so hard to adequately answer?

Later in his speech, Wallace told the graduating class that education should be based on simple awareness:”Awareness of what is so real and essential, so hidden in plain sight all around us, all the time, that we have to keep reminding ourselves over and over:”This is water.”

The book is an attempt to begin a conversation about ware based on new questions and new research. I hope to bring our simple awareness the reality and essence - and beauty- of this small blue marble we love, move and love upon.

Even though it’s hidden in plain sight”

The first chapter starts strong too enough and if you are not yet hooked into more discovery he asks again a very fundamental question” Why do we love water so much?”

Wallace J.Nichols kicks off then with a quintessential quote that would sum up in so many way what all researches, poets, novelists, normal folks, kids, might feel it deeply embedded into our cells or perhaps….saliva (will make sense in a bit what I just said!).

“Water is life’s matter and matrix, mother and medium. There is no life without water” - by Albert Szent-Gyorgnyi,M.D., discoverer of vitamin C

Our Blue Mind author takes us then on this marvellous research on our connection with water, the joy, the beauty, the benefits, its perhaps darkness and eventual luring silence , the premium price, the neuroscience and new emerging bod of research in this field, water sports and their addiction like threads, the restorative power of fishing, or surfing, the magic effect of floating . I kept thinking for the past week where I could start for you to maybe connect easier here with his book. I have way too many annotations and bookmarks and would be very very challenging to choose from.

He has also founded Blue Mind Movement (can be found on Patreon platform) and also that organises conferences and summits since 2011 where scientists, practitioners and students continue tos ahre their research and life’s work.

In his brief summary of this amazing work the author make a nice classifications on categories they have been developed : “We have produced documents describing ‘what we think we know(facts), ‘what we want to explore( hypotheses), and what ‘we want to share’ (teachings).”

I would therefore maybe pick up few more quotes and invite you as always to find a moment in your busy schedule and connect with THE WATERS .If that is not so accessible perhaps simply play a white noise playlist of a waterfall and connect with THE WATERS. The simplest way sometimes is simply to take a shower with the only condition you might impose- not to rush at all, let all that waters find you, cleanse you, drip along your body and be aware of it. No time, wash your hands and face slowly with fresh cold waters…. Yes,I kept using plurals on purpose…. It had an original story related to it and it makes me feel the cleansing it in a more intimate way.

The waters you will see becomes this amazing life energy that pulls you back from some moments you no longer wanted to sink in. It sometimes separates the day for me and let me start afresh. Back home after a long day of commute and work, it brings me back on my feet or brings my head back on my shoulders up straight and ready to dive in my second life, the hobbies I enjoy, the books I like to immerse into, the chat with a friend I have not connected for long time. Without it, I just easily could feel an energy drain( especially when you come up a hill and 50 stairs every evening)… and yet I know a nice “watering ritual” where I just stand in total stillness and let the waters run their course is all the “energy medicine” I would need. I might choose in that moment to imagine I am a field receiving the waters, or I might like to see myself as flowers sunk into its goodness, or a tree so much looking for the owner to come back home and notice it needed its waters to feed its roots and leaves up to the crown.

I now can smile back and say - alrighty, what might be next for this evening now. It has this amazing quality of a curtain that instead of a block-out effect lets you see new lights through a sheer filter. It might look like a moment of separation yet is in fact a moment of restoration, or repose. I would open up to an oasis effect from somehow an immediate past and submerging into the present. Is me and myself only.

This is how waters make me create a new self in a matter of 5, 8, 10, 15 minutes…whatever I might have.

I perhaps creates some idyllic moment of temporary beauty for you all and yet,I know many of us connect in so many ways with this life’s energy. I like to believe that I would remain this eternal student with endless curiosity and interest in the mysteries of life, in the mysteries of our interconnectedness. What makes our heart flutter, what makes our motivation keep bouncing back to the peek despite moments of ….rolling down our knees sometimes, what makes us say” It is a beautiful day or evening, how shall I be with it in a connected way and just breathe in awareness”

“The real voyage of discovery consists not so much in seeking new territory, but possibly in having new sets of eyes” - Marcel Proust

“There is an interdependency with the natural world that goes beyond ecosystems, biodiversity or economic benefits; our neurons and water need each other to live. “

“The revelation of this immensity …. Was like falling in love” - Giordano Bruno

Wallace J. Nichols leaves us with:

“Get in the water. Walk along the water. Move across its surface. Get under it.Sit in it. Leap into it. Listen to it.Touch the water. Close your eyes and drink a big glass. Fall more deeply in love with water in all its shapes, colours ,and forms.Let it heal you and make you a better, stronger version of yourself. You need water .And water needs you now.

I wish you water”

What a tour de force. So inspiring.

Hence we are here I would like to offer you two more sources of inspirations leading us into having this new set of eyes when we think of water.

One of the famous people with an impressive body of work around water properties together with the secrets and power it holds is Masaru Emoto. I happened to already have at home the beautiful hardcover:

water crystal healing by masaru emoto

I would not even dare to begin to tell you how magic is this book. Yet his work explains talks often about the vibrations that water could hold.

He ran experiments on the power of music over our well-bring and he could measure that by taking this photos of crystalized water holding the vibrations of particularly selected classical music pieces.

I will quote this just to introduce you in the marvel of his work as trust me you need to run this experience yourselves -get the book, put on the classical music he has selected and read and immerse into these connections and restorative power of music, music and images.

“Controlling a vibration with another Vibration”

The reason why we need music resides in this principle. The stresses of modern society distort the vibrations of the cells in our body. To assist these distorted vibrations in returning to normal, we choose music- vibrations-with the right rhythm, tempo, tone and melody to cancel the distortion. For this reason, music has been our companion since the dawn of human history, in many different forms, and continues to give us healing effects.

“Seeing Music”

Music is meant to be heard. But using the technique of water-crystal photography that I have developed years ago, it is possible to “see”music.it works in the following manner: a water crystal is geometrical design shaped by a vibration, and a sound is a vibration. So if you listen to a piece of music and look at the water crystals created by the vibration of the music simultaneously, you can”see” the vibrational pattern of the music in the crystal and absorb all the vibrations into your body through your eyes and ears.

“Music Therapy

Organs and diseases have measurable hado, a subtle form of energy that is easily transmittable and present in all things.

In English, hado translates as “wave motion”or”vibration”.In the near future, as research progresses ,the hado associated with all organs and diseases will become clear and widely understood. Then ,it will become possible to compose music that has vibrations and rhythm corresponding to a certain organ or dissease- for example, a piece of music that can cancel the hado of the liver cancer.

I imagine that, at some future time ,the technology to help people absorb beneficial vibrations will be widely adopted. When that day comes, a water-crystal representation of a piece of music will be placed on the music’s packaging, and listeners will be able to enjoy music that is composed of the vibrations that are most beneficial to them. “

Yes, please- we all take a moment. I LOVE TO IMAGINE THAT THIS WILL COME TRUE.

Please hold on to this imagery…. That is where I find the magic of it all and take in the beauty in with a big inhale…. Hold it. Never release it. Hold on to this deep breath for ever.

Coming to the last reference point around water I have for your today is one episodes in the podcast “Wake the fake up” with Veda Austin a water researcher and water crystals photographers who runs similar experiments in New Zealand while having also courses about it on her website and as well as teaching kids about these simple ways to connect with nature and universe at work ,so accessible to all of us.

The podcast episode is wonderful too and one thing that I hence loved to take away for us today is through the power of the words -we talk sometimes about it -and hence how it influences everything we are or do.. A simple way to understand that is that since water holds on the vibrations, so does also our saliva. Veda Austin gives a very simple example therefore why she thinks the practice gratitude and giving blessings to our food before we start eating and enjoying a meal.” Saliva hols the energy of the last word you spoke as a resonance” she says and we are reminded to never forget that “Water is a living body”.

You can also find her book “ The intelligence & Consciousness of Water”

May the magic stay with us and help us inspirations in the most unlikely places.

Be well,

Big Hugs and Thank You!
