The light and pure joy
The second we know we found it

Hold onto that moment.
Hold onto the light.
Hold onto the pure joy.
Bank it deep down in the chest treasure of your heart.
Bank it deep down on the labyrinth of your mind.
Bank it in your palms so you can pray for it to stay.
Hold onto that moment.
A connection like no other.
A connection measured in seconds.
The second when you know.
The second when the time stops. Right here. The second you never want to end.
The second you know when a special bridge opens between two humans.
Two humans who might not know each other in real life. Two humans connected by the power of storytelling. Two humans connected by sentences that move mountains in their simplicity and in their depth. The effect of their spoken words, their demeanour, their insightful eyes
The second you know that the way they spoke, the way they carry their sadness and fragility in the world, is so brave.
The second youand just lifted your spirits.
The second you know you just saw the light.
The second you know that is pure joy.
The second when you know that you have just met another soul from your galaxy.
The second that you just made them a guide of humanity to behold on your path.
The second you find these special people you resonate with, you walk those bridges to behold on this connection.
An interview, a work of art, a novel that you cannot put down, a podcast, a director who frames life from a knot of hope emerging as this powerful magnet for us all.
The second we found something resonating in our soul, the sun decided to warm our homes again. The flowers took a blooming vow in silence and resilience.
The voice we heard, the glimpses in someone’s vulnerability that we have witnessed, became the very healing balm for this frozen moment in time, when love, care, tenderness, was missing.
The healing balm for this frozen moment in time when we did not know what is needed anymore. When loneliness, with all its glory and creative force was not enough to refuel on its very own. When refuelling was sought externally.
Hold on to that moment.
Hold on to the light.
Hold on to the pure joy.
Hold on to the mysterious ways that something bigger than us runs interference and connects us with across continents to someone just like us.
Bank it deep down in the chest treasure of your heart. So, you can remember the pulse raising when another soul spoke your language.
Bank it deep down on the labyrinth of your mind. So, you can reconnect as often as you might need, so you can rewire your brain to bring back that memory for as long as it can.
Bank it in your palms so you can pray for it to stay. A prayer so heartfelt and so powerful like no other. A prayer calling for all the bridges to open and surround your being, your homes, your pathways to all the guides, the voices, the visionaries, the fragile souls who speak their truth with gentle care, with far less words that one may expect, with kindness.
Hold onto that moment when we connect with people like us. And with people so special that could create art that lift our spirits and find us at the most needed moment.
The moment ,the now that dissolves the illusion of separation.
Today’s letter is an ode to Chloe Zhao. I have listened to her interviews for the past month talking mostly about Hamnet and I came across this lovely fire-side chat with BBC few days ago. It simply moved me to tears and it still does whenever I remember her words reverberating onto my heart, my mind, my body.
Chloe Zhao - The strength in female bodies, BBC Interview - and few favourite quotes with my full recommendation to go and watch and listen Chloe speak. Such a humbling powerful experience. A moment to hold onto.
“I can look back and go,wow, I wish I was there with that little girl and say, you’re not alone because you’re not separated. Separation is an illusion. I wish I was there to tell her that. But I am also glad that no one did, because then she spent her whole life trying to tell stories of people who are separated. Who are, who we feel they’re ,they exist in the world that is so different than ours that we have nothing in common, and then I tell these stories and I show them to people around the world, and they go, ahh, they’re just like us, and therefore that illusions of separation dissolves within two hours they’re in the theatres together. “
“My films don’t have a lot of dialogue, because I find that to be more universal.Language is beautiful, but sometimes it separates us because we do not understand it.But a smile is a smile, a touch is a touch.”
“I never want anyone to come out of a creative experience more wounded than when they first arrived.”
Hold on to that moment.
Hold on to the light.
Hold on to the pure joy.
Hold on to the mysterious ways that something bigger than us runs interference and connects us across continents to someone just like us.
A deep bow to those who speak their truth and create a world for all of us to access whenever we need it most.
Thank you.
